Neurotoxins/
Neuromodulators
(Anti-wrinkle)

What are Neurotoxins?

Neuromodulators or Neurotoxins are FDA approved prescription medications that are injected into muscles to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines.

Before & After

Tell me more...

DAXXIFY is the newest neuromodulator.  It is the only long-lasting peptide-powered frown line treatment.  DAXXIFY may last up to twice as long a conventional treatments for some.   Conventional treatments last 3-4 months.  DAXXIFY lasts for a median duration of 6 months and up to 9 months for some patients.  At least 50% of patients in clinical studies had no or minor frown lines 6 months after treatment with DAXXIFY.

Jeuveau is also a newer toxin “newtox” which is very precise in its action.

In a survey of >9,000 people treated with Jeuveau®:

  • 88% were likely to recommend to a friend or family member

  • 95% were satisfied with their overall  Jeuveau treatment

  • 95% believe their results with Jeuveau were natural looking

Neuromodulators are also used in younger patients to prevent wrinkles.

A study published in in Nature Scientific Reports revealed that injections of neurotoxin into the face resulted in less depression.  According to the senior author, “It’s been thought that easing severe frown lines in the forehead disrupts a feedback loop that reinforces negative emotions.”

How do they work?

Neuromodulators or Neurotoxins are made of naturally-occurring purified proteins produced by the Clostridium botulinum species of bacteria.  It blocks nerve signals to the muscles injected.  This results in temporary muscle weakening and aesthetic improvement of lines and wrinkles.

Neuromodulators were first used in 1970’s to treat eye muscle spasm.  It was soon noticed patients treated with neurotoxins had diminished that wrinkles around the eyes.  This led to extensive research and development of neurotoxins with indications for treating wrinkles around the eyes.

The first neuromodulator to obtain FDA approval was Botox® however over time and new research, additional neuromodulators were introduced to the market.  Other FDA-approved neuromodulators include Dyspot®, Xeomin®Jeuveau, and DAXXIFY.
